Sessions Available: Saturday 4/27 9a-4(ish)p Learn how to bring your ideas to life with our wax carving intensive. This class focuses on Celtic knot elements to challenge students in subtractive carving in 3 dimensions taught by Jen Salta During this one-day hands-on class, you will learn tips and tricks of the trade from the jewelry industry! The goal of this weekend is to take each student through the creation process of a Celtic knot element. We have a stellar one-pager of knot designs for you to choose from in a size easily worn as a pendant or bracelet element. We will guide you through the process of how to lay out your idea - transfer it to wax and start your adventure! A variety of tools and different waxes will be available to you for the duration of the class. You will learn cool techniques to use and modify many of these tools, as well as life hacks to make your own at home! We will review all the essentials that will give you the knowledge and confidence to continue exploring the amazing world of wax carving and lost wax casting on your own! You will be provided with a tool/vendor list for your reference as well as written step-by-step instructions on what you did in class. Wax carving opens so many possibilities for design and there is much to learn! This intro course is a great way to start! Notes: -All materials and tools are included in the cost of this workshop. -This is a 1 day, 7+ hour workshop. The class will run from 9-4ish Sunday. Please bring lunch or plan to pitch in $10 for pizza. -This is a skill-based workshop, unlike our project-based classes there will be no finished "piece" at the end of the day, only wax models. At the end of the day, students can choose to have their pieces cast, Emily will send them out and cover the casting charge for the first project, the rest will be due upon receipt. - There will be opportunities later in the summer for you to sign up for 'Finishing Casting', a 3-4-hour workshop with Emily Marquis where we will clean up your casting, set your stones, and finish your piece, or your piece can be picked up/shipped to you unfinished.
